Weeds control through tree-crop associations in a parkland of Burkina Faso
H. BAZIE
The effects of microclimate due to tree presence on weeds development were assessed under Baobab (Adansonia digitata) and Néré (Parkia biglobosa) in a parkland in Nobéré (Burkina Faso). In association with these trees, two crops were grown: a shade tolerant crop (Colocasia esculenta, taro) and a shade intolerant cereal (Pennisetum glaucum, Mil(...)

Genetic variation in human HBB is associated with Plasmodium falciparum transmission
K. SIMPORE
Genetic factors are known to have a role in determining susceptibility to infectious diseases 1, 2, although it is unclear whether they may also influence host efficiency in transmitting pathogens. We examine variants in HBB that have been shown to be protective against malaria 3 and test whether these are associated with the transmission of t(...)

Use of biopesticides in the perspective of chemical resistance management in Western Africa: The cases of Bemisia tabaci (Homotera: Aleyrodidae) and Anopheles...
Organic pesticides are used against agricultural pests in order to improve yields in Western Africa. Pyrethroid (PY), Organophosphates (OP) and Carbamates (CX) are the chemical pesticides mainly used. Unfortunately, these chemicals continue to select new resistant populations of B. tabaci, a polyphagous whitefly. Indirectly, the chemical resid(...)
